| Applications in Process and General Industry | |||||
| The Thompson Strainer is particularly suited for separating particles of different specific gravity to the carrying medium, e.g. sand and grit from water. The units have very low head-loss and can therefore be used where there may be insufficient pressure for other mean of filtration. | |||||

|
Thompson strainers have been used as primary filters for irrigation and small town water supply installations. The self-cleaning feature coupled with automatic draining of the sediment collected makes for units of minimum maintenance. |

| Applications in Mining and Mineral Processing | |||||
| Thompson strainers have also been used in mining and mineral processing applications for separating solid particles from the process stream. Their solid construction in stainless steel gives long and reliable operation. | |||||
